Additional notes:
Schools can adjust the school calendar, established by the Regions, to the POF’s requirements (the POF is the basic document of the cultural and planning identity of each school. It defines the curricular, extra-curricular,
educational and organisational projects of each school). Schools can organise in a flexible way the overall
timetable for the curriculum and for any single subject even on the basis of multi-week planning, provided that
lessons spread over a minimum of five days per week and that the prescribed annual, pluriennial or cycle number of hours for the single subjects is complied with. Generally speaking, the school year begins between the 2nd and
the 4th week of September and finishes between the 1st and the 3rd week of June. The school adaptations of the school time should guarantee at least 200 days of lesson in the school year.

According to school autonomy, schools have up to 5 or 6 days available, which are foreseen for the suspension of educational activities.
